2026

For students and staff, join the Sustainability Team to survey both of our wildflower meadows on 20 June and the Physic Garden on 3 June. No experience required, we will be using the UK Habitat Classification System to conduct the surveys.

On 29 April, between 1:30pm and 4:30pm, eight students joined the Sustainability Team and Suffolk Wildlife Trust to create a new Living Lab: our Woodland Walk. Together, we planted a new 200m² habitat area on campus, introducing a wide range of native species including cow parsley, common dog violet, cowslip, foxglove, greater stitchwort, male fern, lady fern, meadowsweet, oxeye daisy, red campion, wild garlic, wood anemone, and winter aconite.

Open to all, students, staff, and visitors: Tim and Thomas from the Sustainability Team led a tour around our habitat spaces, with two students and eight members of the public seeing what we’re doing.

On 14 April, Tim and Thomas from the Sustainability Team and our Micro Placement student joined the Student Experience Team as part of their Feedback Festival. We had a stand and discussed everything about sustainability, including playing a game based on the popular book "How Bad Are Bananas?".

On 24 February 2026, five staff members from the University's Marketing, Communications, and International Directorate joined Thomas from the Sustainability Team to plant 20 trees donated from the Woodland Trust, including rowan, crab apple and hazel. These were planted in our Atrium Walk and Woodland Walk.

Throughout 2026, Thomas is leading the Wellbeing Allotment sessions for students and staff to participate in. Engagement: between two to five staff members per session.

We aim to run events throughout the year that help participants gain new knowledge, develop practical employment skills, and support their mental and physical wellbeing.
