Frequently Asked Questions

Clearing is another opportunity to secure a place at university if you haven't already, Clearing opens at the start of July and runs through until September. During Clearing, you can apply directly to a university rather than via UCAS. You can apply directly to us if you:

  • Decided to apply for a course after 30 June
  • Applied to UCAS before the end of June but didn't accept or receive any offers
  • Didn’t meet the conditions of the offers you received
  • Changed your mind about where you would like to go to university (after declining your place on UCAS and releasing yourself into Clearing).

You can call our Application Hotline on +44 (0)1473 338352 to speak to one of our Admissions Advisers. Lines are open 9.00am–5.00pm (Monday to Thursday) and 9.00am–4.45pm (Friday).

Extended Application Hotline opening hours:

  • Thursday 13 August: 8.00am - 8.00pm
  • Friday 14 August: 8.00am - 6.00pm
  • Saturday 15 August: 10.00am - 2.00pm
  • Monday 17 - Friday 21 August: 8.30am - 6.00pm

We’ll take a few basic details from you, such as your contact information and your qualifications. We'll then advise if we can consider you for the course you’re interested in.

Sometimes, we’ll even be able to make you an informal offer during the call.

For some courses we may need further information from you such as a portfolio or you may be required to attend an interview.

Before you call, have the following ready:

  • Your UCAS ID (if you applied through UCAS earlier in the cycle)
  • Your qualifications and results (make sure you know the full title of your qualifications)
  • The details you would like us to use to contact you

Course vacancies will be listed in the UCAS course search tool or you can search for your course in our Course Finder.

We recommend that you call our Application Hotline on +44 (0) 01473 338352 (from 1 July) to find if your qualifications meet the requirements for your chosen course. We can also advise you on alternatives or give you some general advice on next steps.

Kate, Clearing Applicant

"Clearing wasn’t something I originally planned, but it turned out to be one of the best decisions I have made. I did not enjoy my A-levels but I felt like I had an inner drive, and when you have got a passion for something, you have that desire to do well."
