The University of Suffolk is among the top 50 universities in the UK, ranking 44th out of 130 institutions in the 2027 Complete University Guide.
The latest rankings, released today, have seen Suffolk escalate by 11 places from its 55th position last year, and continues the University’s remarkable rise over the last five years, climbing 82 places from 2022 to 2027.
The University is also ranked top for facilities spend, and seventh for academic services spend.
Among other headlines were the University’s Childhood and Youth Studies courses being ranked top in the East of England, while Suffolk was also second for student satisfaction in Education courses and second for student satisfaction in Psychology.
In addition, the University was third for graduate prospects – on track (which measures whether graduates agree their current activity aligns with their future plans) for Education Studies and joint-third for Childhood and Youth Studies, as well as joint third for student satisfaction in Sociology.
The latest league tables follow the University of Suffolk’s success in the Whatuni Student Choice Awards last month, in which Suffolk was shortlisted in seven categories – including University of the Year – and came home with the top prizes for Lecturers and Teaching Quality, International, and Postgraduate.
Professor Jenny Higham, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Suffolk, said: “It is wonderful to see the University of Suffolk recognised as a top-50 university in the UK as we enter our tenth anniversary year, and is a testament to the tremendous work of all colleagues to ensure we provide an exceptional experience for our students.
“We work hard to ensure our courses prepare students well for their chosen careers, and our positive National Student Survey scores underline how satisfied our students feel about their time at Suffolk.
“We are also undergoing a significant development programme across campus, which has seen us open brand new Library and Esports facilities in the past 12 months, with a new student hub, quiet study areas, and Pharmacy facilities set to be ready for our students joining in September.”
The Complete University Guide league tables are designed to help prospective students make informed choices about their future studies, including those making late applications and who will be applying through Clearing this summer.
The main league table is based on 10 measures: entry standards, student satisfaction, research quality, research intensity, academic services spend, facilities spend, continuation, student-staff ratio, graduate prospects – outcomes, and graduate prospects – on track.
According to the rankings nationally, Business and Management Studies remains the most popular discipline of study, followed by Nursing and Midwifery and then Computer Science.

It’s not too late to join the University of Suffolk this September. Clearing will open in early July for applicants to apply directly through the University.
