The University will have a stand at the Suffolk Show

The University of Suffolk is returning to the Suffolk Show at the end of the month, with visitors encouraged to come along and find out more about what the University has going on.

The event will be held at Trinity Park near Ipswich on Wednesday 27 and Thursday 28 May, with the University of Suffolk occupying Stand 15.

Led by the University’s Research and Knowledge Exchange team, this year the stand will feature a showcase of some of the University’s research outputs, family-friendly crafts, interactive activities, and skills sessions.

Among the offering will be:

  • Make your own paper graduation hat for children with our Childhood course
  • Build your own bat detector, and origami wildlife game with our Wildlife, Ecology and Conservation Science colleagues
  • Games and activities organised by the Students’ Union
  • A mock eyewitness challenge with our Institute for Social Justice and Crime researchers
  • Training and guidance on using bleed control kits and basic first aid with our Paramedic Science course
  • Demonstrations of research around how AI can be utilised in agriculture with the Digital Futures Institute
  • Exploring the Quantum Optics Discovery lab and how light is used to send data to and from satellites with the Suffolk Sustainability Institute
  • Being part of a citizen science project to help our researchers collect vital insights into the quality of water in our local rivers
  • Apprenticeship opportunities information with the Business Solutions team.

Professor Emma Bond, Pro-Vice Chancellor for Research and Knowledge Exchange at the University of Suffolk, said: “The Suffolk Show is a landmark event in our county’s calendar, and the perfect platform for the University to showcase some of the exceptional work going on at our campus and beyond.

“From research of a local, regional, national and international significance to skills development with our course teams, our work is having a real impact in our communities, so we cannot wait to share this with adults and young people alike.”
