Graduate Story

Chanel McKenzie, BSc (Hons) Criminology

"Professional career within Suffolk Youth Justice Service, progressing from a Child Criminal Exploitation Hubs Practitioner into my current role as a Youth Justice Practitioner. My early experience within the CE Hubs allowed me to build a solid foundation around supporting children who are at risk of or vulnerable to criminal exploitation. The degree provided me with a theoretical understanding of crime and offending behaviours, which apply directly to my role now. It also supported my confidence in professional communication and presentation.  The Criminology degree is highly rated. It also fitted within my life circumstances at the time.

I chose the University of Suffolk because of the lecturer support - receiving support both inside and outside of lecturers was paramount in receiving the grade I did. The professional backgrounds of the lecturers also supported different elements of learning.

A decision I won't ever regret and something that has shaped my career. I have made friends for life and achieved things that I didn't think were possible prior to earning my degree. "
