Markus holds a Masters in Education (MEd) Leadership in Management, a Bachelor of Science (BSc) Sport Studies, and a Professional Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE). He has been awarded QTLS and is a fellow with the Society for Education and Training (FSET).

Markus began his career in 2006 as an Exercise Physiologist in a Human Performance Unit, progressing onto lecturing on Higher Education Sports Studies at the South Essex College of Higher and Further Education and Initial Teacher Education programmes in the Eastern region. He has experience of senior teaching and management position in Essex and Suffolk, which have involved leading teams of Teacher Trainers, Advanced Practitioners, Teacher Development Coaches, and E-learning Developers, to drive enhancements in Higher and Further Education in different organisations. Markus is an experienced trainer, mentor, coach, and lesson observer.

Markus has a passion for promoting current evidence-based research into teaching, learning, and assessment, to enhance the student experience. He specialises in research methods in education, planning for learning, and professional development.
