Gareth has 20 years of progressive and varied experience in healthcare education both in further and higher education, as well as decade of experience as a registered nurse both in the UK and Australia. 

Gareth's academic profile includes positions within both post-registration and pre-registration nursing as well as Inter-professional learning and Pre-professional education, including apprenticeships. His current role is Senior Lecturer Paramedic Science, where he provides support to the Course Leader and teaching on a number of modules across the programme.  Previous roles have included Course Leader for Adult Nursing at University Campus Suffolk, Apprenticeship Lead and Nursing Associate Course Director at the University of East Anglia.  

Gareth graduated with an MSc in Professional Practice from the University of Essex, having already obtained an MSc in Sports Science, BSc (Hons) in Nursing as well as a professional nursing registration and a teaching qualification with the NMC.

Gareth has the following module responsibility across the Paramedic Science undergraduate course:

  • Research
  • Collaborative learning   
  • Psychosocial Healthcare 

Gareth also oversees the outgoing Paramedic Practice Degree.

Gareth's research interests include post-operative risk assessment and person-centered education.

 

Gareth has extensive experience working as a registered nurse in Australia taking on various nursing assignments that included intensive care, accident & emergency, indigenous care, GP clinics, and clinical educator roles.
