A practising solicitor, Claire spent over 10 years working as a Criminal defence solicitor, representing clients in the Police Station, Magistrates' Courts and Crown Courts across a wide range of offences and hearings. For the last 5 years, Claire has practised in Police law, representing various Police forces, providing operational advice and training, as well as representing the Police in applications for civil orders (such as Domestic Violence Protection Orders, Sexual Harm Prevention Orders, Stalking Protection Orders, Gang Injunctions, Dog Destruction Orders and Police Property Act matters) in the Magistrates, Crown and County Courts.
Prior to joining the University of Suffolk, Claire taught on the Bar Professional Training Course and Legal Practice Course at the University of Law for 3 years, teaching Criminal Litigation, Advocacy, Ethics and Immigration & Asylum law.
Teaching:
Postgraduate LLM in Criminal Law and Justice and the LLB.
Claire obtained Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy in March 2020.
