Alison joined the University of Suffolk as a Lecturer in Health Apprenticeships in 2023. She qualified as a Registered Nurse in 1988 and as a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN) in 2013.

Alison has worked in a wide range of health settings including Respiratory Medicine, HIV, General Surgery, Gynaecology, and Sexual and Reproductive Health. She trained in the West Midlands and then worked on an acute Surgical ward for several years at University College Hospital in London before moving to Suffolk in 2003. She then further developed her career working initially in gynaecology at West Suffolk Hospital and after completing the SCPHN BSc (Hons) worked in Essex and Suffolk as a Health Visitor for 10 years before moving into education.

Alison is teaching on the Apprentice Nursing Associate course and is module lead for Holistic Healthcare across the lifespan and additionally teaches on the Anatomy and Physiology module.

Alison is also studying for the Post Grad Certificate in Academic Practice (PgCAP) course at the university.
