This courses prepares you to be a primary school teacher, resulting in the award of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a PGCE. Over one academic year, you are placed in two partnership schools where, under the tutelage of a mentor, you will develop your teaching practice. 

You will complete modules in Primary Studies, Education Studies, Primary Enhancement and Professional Placements. Placements are available in Norfolk and Cambridgeshire, and involve teaching both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. 

You can apply for either the salaried or bursary routes.

Entry requirements

Academic Requirements
  • Undergraduate degree (Level 6) at 2:1 or above, or equivalent
  • Applicants are also required to have GCSEs in English, Maths and Science at grade 4/C or above. Applicants who do not hold these qualifications may be considered on an individual basis based upon their overall application and the course applied for.   • Completion of the Professional Skills Tests for Numeracy and Literacy

If you have previously studied at higher education level before you may be able to transfer credits to a related course at the University of Suffolk and reduce the period of study time necessary to achieve your degree.
