School of Engineering, Arts, Science and Technology

At the University of Suffolk, we’re focused on ensuring our students become exceptional computing professionals prepared for the industry of today and tomorrow. We offer degrees in a wide range of computing subjects, including cyber security, web and mobile development, data science and AI, software engineering and networking. We also offer a flexible BSc (Hons) Computing degree and an MSc in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.

  • Access to world-class specialist laboratories at our newly built DigiTech Centre located at Adastral Park, home to over 140 high-tech ICT companies and BT’s innovation labs (coming January 2021).
  • We are an Amazon Web Services (AWS) Academy allowing our students complete access to the AWS infrastructure. The same infrastructure which is used by leading technology companies such as Netflix, Facebook, Twitter, Disney and Spotify*.
  • Our computing courses are designed in consultation with leading technology employers, aligned with industry standards, and taught by experienced computing professionals.
  • All students have the opportunity to start their own business upon graduation with the University of Suffolk’s Innovation Centre (IWIC).
 

Our labs are designed to deliver real-world projects. You can build virtual servers, code massive parallel programs to analyse big data, simulate networks at scale or perform ethical hacking and penetration testing in our secure network. Add to this, we have a wide range of networking hardware, internet-of-things development kits, mobile phones, tablets, 3D scanners and 3D printers, to support students in their projects.

You can gain technical skills in programming, networks, databases, web technologies, mobile app development, cloud computing, Big Data analytics, data science, artificial intelligence and cyber security. Apart from these highly prized technical skills, you will also be prepared with analytical, leadership and organisational competences.

 

As a graduate from the University of Suffolk, you can succeed as a Software Developer, Web and Mobile Developer, Cyber Security Expert, Network Engineer and Business IT Professional.
 
* Access to AWS is available to all computing students and is currently mandatory on BSc (Hons) Software Engineering, BSc (Hons) Web and Mobile Development, BSc (Hons) Computing and Business Management and BSc (Hons) Digital and Technology Solutions (Software Engineering).
