Build Your Future

Build Your Future is the University of Suffolk's new scheme (launched in 2022) to provide enhanced Careers, Employability and Enterprise support for our UK undergraduate and postgraduate taught students who also meet specific Widening Participation criteria. This includes:

  • students with disabilities
  • students who identify as Black, Asian, Mixed, and/or from a Global Majority racial and ethnic group
  • students who are first in their family to go to university or come from an area of low participation in Higher Education 
  • students from areas of low household income
  • care experienced students
  • mature students (over 21 when they start their first undergraduate degree).

This opt-in scheme offers exclusive opportunities to enhance your employability, grow your confidence and build your networks.  

  • access to ring-fenced Micro-Placements, paid opportunities to help you build your experience and employability. You may also be able to request reasonable adjustments in the application and interview process as well as during your placement. 

  • access to ring-fenced funding in the Inspiring Futures Fund. Click the link for more information, including the application process and full terms & conditions. 

  • dedicated guest speakers and employer visits to help you explore your options and build your networks. 

  • targeted support if you are interested in the idea of starting your own business now in the future - you may already have an idea to build on or you may be starting from scratch and just want to find out more.

  • targeted activities such as careers workshops and webinars to help develop your confidence in areas such as networking, resilience, identifying your skills and navigating the job market. 

  • dedicated Brightspace area to keep to date with events on the programme and access further resources.

  • the opportunity to talk with/meet other students (online or face to face) and support each other by sharing your experiences, tips and advice 

  • pick and mix style programme - just sign up for the activities (as many as you like!) that you think are helpful for you 
     

This scheme is brand new for 2022-23 and will continue to grow – register for the scheme to be the first to hear about new activities and opportunities.
