Student satisfaction scores for the University of Suffolk are higher than the national average in all themes, according to latest National Student Survey data.

The National Student Survey (NSS) collates the views of students across the country in areas such as learning and teaching, organisation, resources, assessments and mental wellbeing support.

Scores for the University of Suffolk for 2025, published this week, are above the sector average for the UK in all themes, and an increase on the University’s scores last year.

The areas scored are teaching on the course; learning opportunities; assessment and feedback; academic support; organisation and management; learning resources; student voice; students’ union; mental wellbeing services and freedom of expression.

Among the highlights are a 93 per cent satisfaction rate for teaching on the course, and 92 per cent for learning opportunities and academic support.

In addition, assessment and feedback, organisation and management, student voice, and students’ union were all 10 percentage points or more above the sector average.

Children’s Nursing, Physiotherapy, Psychology and Sociology were among the subjects showing consistently higher scores than the sector average, according to the data.

Professor Jenny Higham, Vice-Chancellor for the University of Suffolk, said: “These are tremendous results, and it’s great to see such positive feedback from our students, as well as a continuous increase in results over the last four years.

“Hearing the thoughts from students themselves is an important part of our work to continuously improve, and ensure learners enjoy the best possible experience at Suffolk. Thank you to all who shared their views.”

A spokesperson for the Students’ Union said: “We’re incredibly proud to see our Students’ Union achieving higher results than the sector average."

“It is due to the dedication of our student leaders and staff in all parts of the SU, from sports and societies to advice, who work so hard to create an inclusive and engaging experience for everyone here.

“We are determined to build on this to make student life even better over the next year.”

The NSS results come off the back of Suffolk being named University of the Year at the Whatuni Student Choice awards (WUSCAs) in the spring, which also included accolades for lecturers and teaching quality, and student support, with the Students’ Union also being names top for the East of England. The WUSCAs are also voted for by students.
