Budding entrepreneurs dreaming of starting their own businesses are being invited to sign up to a Business Start-Up course at the University of Suffolk and which could see them win a share of a grant for their business idea.

The Winter Business Start-Up Boot Camp launches on Wednesday 25 October with a meet and greet session from 1pm at the university’s Atrium building.

The launch session will also give those enrolled the chance to network and hear start-up stories.

Hannah Page, Enterprise and Entrepreneurship Officer at the University of Suffolk, said: “This boot camp is a great opportunity to turn a business idea into reality with the support of university lecturers and industry experts who will encourage and advise at every step.

“It is part of the University’s commitment to boosting the region’s economy through helping individuals and businesses to develop the skills needed to succeed.”

On Friday 27 October, Amy Volkert, Entrepreneurship Manager at the University of Suffolk, will lead an Ideation Workshop and on Wednesday 1 November, the “Getting Started With Social Enterprise” session will be led by business owner Simon Pickering.

The session on Friday 3 November will look at market research, demand for products and services and targeting, and will be led by lecturers and business owners followed by a strategic marketing and social media afternoon with industry experts and brand specialists on Wednesday 8 November.

On Friday 10 November the focus will be on perfecting a business model including investments, finance, business operation and team building.

The penultimate session, on Wednesday 22 November, will give those taking part the chance to practice their pitch and listen to peer group feedback ahead of the finale on Wednesday 29 November when winners will share in a grant allocation specifically aimed at excelling and progressing their business.
