Cindy is a Lecturer on the MSc Cognitive Behavioural Therapy course. She has a particular interest in psychological resilience and is the developer and facilitator of How to Be Resilient (HTBR), a psychologically informed resilience programme designed for healthcare workers. HTBR translate evidence-based cognitive and behavourial principles into accessible, practical tools using metaphor and experiential learning. The programme has been delivered within NHS settings and is currently forming the basis of a developing research programme focused on staff wellbeing, psychological sustainability, and resilience in high-pressure clinical environments.

Cindy has presented her work at the University of Suffolk Student Research Conference and has spoken on a panel at the European Association for Behavourial and Cognitive Therapies (EABCT) Congress. She has also presented on resilience at the Association of Anaesthetists Winter Scientific Meeting, contributing psychological perspectives to multidisciplinary medical audiences.

Cindy's work has been published in the Journal of Suffolk Student Research, and she has written for a professional trade magazine on the use of metaphor in CBT to support engagement and understanding.

Cindy teaches with a focus on developing strong conceptual understanding alongside practical, reflective clinical skills. She has a particular interest in experiential learning approaches, the use of metaphor in CBT, and supporting therapist resilience across training and professional practice.

Cindy has a background in coaching and leadership roles within UK secondary schools, as well as experience as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy therapist in the NHS and Lead Coach with Unstoppable Media Group.

Cindy’s passion for personal growth and dedication to helping others navigate challenges have been instrumental in shaping her career. Cindy leads by example, embodying a collaborative and positive approach, and creates an environment where both staff and students are motivated to work to the best of their abilities.

Cindy holds an interest in research focused on providing psychological support for individuals who are at risk for or have been diagnosed with Huntington's Disease. Recognising the unique challenges and complexities associated with this condition, she is passionate about exploring innovative approaches to enhance the psychological well-being and quality of life for affected individuals and their families.

Cindy is also interested in the field of personal resilience. She has developed a course on resilience training that is currently being delivered within the NHS trust where she works.

Cindy is a member of the BABCP and BACP and working towards accreditation with both.  She holds a Bachelor of Arts in theatre directing and secondary education from Texas State University, and an MSc in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Counselling from the University of Suffolk.
