Dr Philip Solomon-Turay is a Lecturer in the School of Allied Health Sciences. Philip is the module lead for all the sport psychology modules within the BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science & BSc (Hons) Sport Performance Analysis degrees at the university. Philip works within the field of sport psychology as a lecturer, researcher and applied practitioner. His research interests and publications focus on enhancing the understanding of applied interventions and the psychological technique of self-talk. Philip has also worked with various amateur and elite athletes within the sports of football, basketball, triathlon and tennis, administering interventions to develop the psychological element of athletes performance.
Philip teaches on all the sport psychology modules within the BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science & BSc (Hons) Sport Performance Analysis degrees at the university.
Philip's research area is Sport, Exercise and Performance Psychology (SEPP). He is interested in progressing the field of applied SEPP, developing new interventions to better help athletes learn psychological skills and enhance their sport performance. His current projects involve exploring the psychological technique of self-talk and how applied interventions can help athletes to better use self-talk to generate the desired sporting outcome.
