BA (Hons) Games Design
Class of 2014
Selected for outstanding contribution to and impact on University of Suffolk students and the wider Games Design community

Coming from a working-class Romanian family, Chris was the first in his family to graduate from university. He chose to study at the University of Suffolk, then known as University Campus Suffolk, just four years after its founding. Drawn by its potential as a place of innovation and creativity, Chris enrolled in the Games Design course, seeing it as a springboard for bold ideas.

Chris quickly became a passionate ambassador for the University. Within his first month in 2007, he became a Student Ambassador and has since played a pivotal role in raising the University’s profile. His efforts at international university fairs helped recruit over 50 Romanian students. Over the years, he has consistently highlighted the University’s impact on his career, most notably when he was selected as one of the 50 “The Game Awards Future Class” globally, where he publicly acknowledged the University of Suffolk as a centre of excellence in games design.

Beyond his advocacy, Chris has shared his experience and insights at conferences, summits, and symposiums around the globe.

In 2017, Chris co-founded Game Anglia, a Community Interest Company dedicated to fostering and growing the gaming industry in the East of England. Since then, Game Anglia has supported over 2,000 young people, supported over a dozen game studios, and showcased more than 100 original games. Its annual conference has drawn over 1,000 aspiring game developers and has welcomed industry icons such as renowned games academic and designer Brenda Romero and DOOM games designer Brenda Romero or BAFTA-award winner Mike Bithell (of Thomas Was Alone fame) to the University of Suffolk, enriching the local game development community.

Committed to addressing inequality, Game Anglia has also delivered free, intensive skills training programs for hundreds of young people, particularly those from working-class backgrounds or who are not in education, employment, or training.

Chris remains a tireless advocate for the University of Suffolk, its people, and the region. Throughout his professional journey, he has strived to bring global talent to Suffolk, uplift disadvantaged communities, and dedicate his time to inspiring the next generation of creators and leaders.

“Chris has always found it true that talent is everywhere but opportunity is not, so he has taken the opportunities available to him and made the best of them, always bringing along the University of Suffolk, people of Suffolk and Suffolk itself. ”  Heather Bishop, Lecturer Games Design
