Good University Guide 2023

We are not just another university.

The University of Suffolk is young and ambitious. We have absorbed the best traditions in higher education and aligned them with the modern world of employment and entrepreneurship. We’re committed to being distinctively more personal and supportive, we’re a community with students at the heart. We work together with you to share our knowledge, provide support and help you to make a difference.

Our philosophy — we equip you to lead and succeed in a changing world.

Our support — Our approach is personal; we support you through every stage of your learning journey.

Our location — Our main campus in Ipswich is set on the beautiful Waterfront.

Your individuality — We treat you as an individual. You’re a name, not a number.

Your future — Employability is embedded in everything we do.

92% of our graduates are in employment or further study (15 months after graduating) according to Graduate Outcomes 2019-20 and we are ranked 26th in the UK for graduates in career 15 months after graduation (Guardian University Guide 2023).

This high percentage of students in work of further study 15 months after graduating confirms the strong emphasis on employability and enterprise across all our degrees.

Employability is not just about developing relevant skills, or getting a job; it is about your whole personal, academic and professional development. Studying at the University of Suffolk, you will have the opportunity to hone your personal strengths, and identify and work on your areas of development. All of our degrees enable you to get involved in problem solving, creative thinking, team working, delivering presentations and using digital technologies; all of which are essential skills needed in the world of employment. Many of our degree courses incorporate modules in professional practice, or graduate development programmes to enable you to put into practice your learning, engage with employers and outside organisations, and discover where your studies will take you in life.

At the University of Suffolk, you’ll receive an exceptional education, richer and more rounded than many.

In the 2025 Whatuni Student Choice Awards (WUSCAs 2025), we were named University of the Year and placed first in the categories of Student Support and Lecturers and Teaching Quality. We also received Silver awards in Facilities, International, and Postgraduate categories.

Additionally, the 2025 National Student Survey (NSS) found that 93% of our students were satisfied with the teaching on their course — placing us above the national average.
