Dr Raja Ahsan Aftab is an academic specialising in clinical pharmacy, pharmacy practice, and pharmacoepidemiology, with extensive experience in teaching, research, and curriculum development across leading higher education institutions. His teaching focuses on clinical pharmacy and applied therapeutics, community pharmacy practice, pharmacoepidemiology, and evidence-based medicine, where he adopts student-centred and technology-enhanced teaching approaches to support experiential learning and the development of clinical decision-making skills. Dr Aftab actively integrates digital learning platforms such as MyDispense and Labster, and has contributed to curriculum development, OSPhE (Objective Structured Pharmacy Examination) coordination, and final-year research supervision, while also championing interprofessional education initiatives that promote collaborative learning between healthcare disciplines.
His research focuses on medication adherence, pharmacoepidemiology, digital health, and patient outcomes in chronic diseases, particularly chronic kidney disease. Dr Aftab has successfully supervised postgraduate students to completion and currently supervises Master’s and PhD candidates. He has secured highly competitive research funding, served as a research consultant for Johnson & Johnson Malaysia, and has been invited as a panel examiner for several PhD theses. He has published widely in high-impact international journals, authored research book chapters, presented and invited to national and international research conferences and contributes to the academic community as a reviewer and editorial board member for several scholarly journals, reflecting his commitment to advancing research, innovation, and evidence-based healthcare.
