I am a registered Social Worker and Practice Educator. I qualified as a Social Worker in 2009 and have mostly worked in Hospital Social work with Adults, also spending time in the Specialist Dementia Team and Integrated Health and Social Care Team.
I joined the UOS Social Work Team in September 2020.
I have an interest in cognitive impairment and dementia and in the Mental Capacity Act. I also have an interest in social work learning having gained my Practice Educator qualification in 2014. I thoroughly enjoy supporting students and watching them grow and develop. I believe Social Work Teams gain so much in practice from having students as learners, critical friends bringing fresh ideas and perspectives.
I spent a year on secondment with the Suffolk and Norfolk Social Work Teaching Partnership where I was afforded the opportunity to work closely with colleagues from UOS and across the Adults, Children and Families, Learning Disabilities and Autism and Mental Health Teams.
This course prepares students at personal and professional levels for the requirements and expectations of social work. It prepares individuals to work in the public, private and voluntary sectors in posts which require professional social work skills.
