Jan has managed counselling services delivered in the health service, hospice and voluntary settings and taught at Birkbeck College as Course Co-ordinator for the Counselling Foundation degree in Psychodynamic Counselling and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, before joining the University of Suffolk.

Jan is currently working towards her PhD in Palliative Care at Lancaster University.

Jan is a clinical supervisor working with health care and hospice staff.

Jan trained in psychodynamic approaches to counselling and has a particular interest in time-limited ways of working with clients. She is a qualified clinical supervisor, has been an external examiner for courses with the Open University and University of Essex, and is an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
