Jan is the Course Lead for Counselling and teaches in all years of the programme. She is an experienced counsellor and psychotherapist with a particular interest in grief and bereavement.
Jan has managed counselling services delivered in the health service, hospice and voluntary settings and taught at Birkbeck College as Course Co-ordinator for the Counselling Foundation degree in Psychodynamic Counselling and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, before joining the University of Suffolk.
She trained in psychodynamic approaches to counselling and has a particular interest in time-limited ways of working with clients. She is a qualified clinical supervisor, has been an external examiner at for university courses, and is an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.
Jan is currently working towards her PhD in Palliative Care at Lancaster University.
