Cathy Johnson joined the Careers, Employability and Entrepreneurship team in February 2023 and supports Technology, Business and Arts courses with work-related learning activities. This ranges from supporting students with their work placements to consulting with businesses and academics to embed opportunities within the curriculum and build connections between Businesses, Students and Academics. Having completed both study abroad and a placement year as part of her International Business with French degree, Cathy has first-hand experience of the benefits of work placements.
Previous roles at University of Suffolk include; Administrator for the Business Development and Knowledge Exchange Team, CPD Administration and managing the ESF funded In Career Education and Training (ICET) project.
Cathy came to the University of Suffolk after a long and varied career in the private sector. After a number of years in B2B sales, managing a portfolio of packaging and logistics clients throughout Western Europe, she stepped into the world of Horticulture where she headed up the French PR team before finally settling into Digital Marketing where she mainly focused on content creation for B2C campaigns but also led on key projects including rebranding, product range launches and website reorganisation.
Working to support organisations build an early talent pipeline as well as developing opportunities for Technology, Business and Arts students including Placements, Work Experience, Internships and in-curriculum activities such as Hackathons, Mock Interviews and Live-Project Briefs.
