Cathy Johnson

Cathy Johnson joined the Careers, Employability and Entrepreneurship team in February 2023 and is aligned to the School of TBA. Cathy supports students through the Placement process, from searching and applying for Professional Placements (Sandwich years) or shorter placements which are part of the curriculum through to the completion of the placement. 

Previously at University of Suffolk, Cathy was Administrator for the Business Development and Knowledge Exchange Team and also took on responsibility for CPD Administration and the In Career Education and Training (ICET) project. 

Cathy graduated from University of Plymouth with a BA (Hons) in International Business with French. During her degree she completed a six month study placement in Paris and a year's work placement at Disneyland Paris and Alcatel Business Systems.

After graduating, Cathy spent several years in sales and marketing roles with responsibility for clients throughout Western Europe. Then, after a short career break when her first son arrived, she joined a local horticultural firm, working part time initially in the French PR and Mail Order Marketing Team and then progressing to a digital marketing role. This also involved leading on the launch of new product ranges and several website replatform projects. As the children got older, Cathy moved to a full time role as PR and Communications Officer with a Trade Association and Competent Person Scheme which also accredited a programme of training courses for heating technicians. This role introduced Cathy to a world of political lobbying and provided a window into the work going on with sustainability and energy efficiency.
