The University of Suffolk is proud to support the Ipswich bid to become the UK’s City of Culture 2029.

For Ipswich, the investment of being named City of Culture will provide exciting opportunities for many communities in the area, support the creative and cultural offering and put the town on the map.

We are encouraging students, staff and the local community to add their support here.

Dr Amanda Hodgkinson, Director of the Centre for Culture and Heritage at the University of Suffolk, said:  “Ipswich has an exciting cultural scene and the investment that comes with a successful City of Culture bid offers our vibrant university town a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to reach out to new audiences, bring people together and elevate and celebrate all that the town has to offer.”

Professor Jenny Higham, Vice-Chancellor of the University, added: “The University of Suffolk is delighted and extremely proud to support the Ipswich bid to become the City of Culture 2029.

"Success would not only create opportunities for the town’s many cultural organisations, it will also boost the regional economy, greatly enhance Ipswich’s profile and provide our students and staff with an exciting programme of events and activities.”
