Research Focus:
Dr. Olanrewaju Muheeb Ahmed’s research operates at the intersection of Cellular Vehicle-to-Everything (C-V2X) communications, Multi-Access Edge Computing (MEC), wireless system security, and next-generation 5G/6G networks. His work addresses critical operational challenges in latency, dynamic spectrum allocation, and physical/network layer security across resource-constrained vehicular nodes and IoT ecosystems. By combining analytical modeling, signal processing, and distributed machine learning, his research delivers resilient, high-throughput, and energy-efficient architectures for autonomous transport, smart infrastructure, and connected mobility.

Research Interests:
Distributed Machine Learning in Vehicular Networks: Federated learning frameworks, privacy-preserving edge intelligence, and resource exploitation algorithms for Internet of Vehicles (IoV).

Wireless & IoT Security: Security protocols and privacy frameworks for resource-constrained IoT devices, physical layer security, dynamic authentication, and threat mitigation in C-V2X and edge environments.

Vehicular Communication & C-V2X Networks: Heterogeneity management, Mode 4 spectrum sharing, IEEE 802.11bd coexistence, and resource-aware k-selection models for autonomous transportation.

Edge & Cloud Computing Architectures: Multi-Access Edge Computing (MEC) integration, multi-hop split learning, and latency optimization for real-time vehicular and smart city applications.

Non-Terrestrial & Next-Generation 6G Networks: High-Altitude Platform (HAP) assisted vehicular connectivity, UAV-enabled wireless powered networks, and millimeter-wave (mmWave) coverage analysis.

Supervision:
Lead Industrial Supervisor: EPSRC Industrial Doctoral Landscape Award (IDLA) PhD Studentship in Federated-Learning-Based Resource Exploitation in Internet of Vehicles (In partnership between Dyson and Durham University Department of Computer Science).

Undergraduate & Postgraduate Supervision: Extensive track record of supervising multiple BSc and MSc research dissertations and practical projects, spanning both fundamental academic investigations and industry-led engineering initiatives.
