Alex Thompson

Alex joined the university in 2026 as a Disability and Mental Health Advisor. His role involves helping students to manage their wellbeing and studies and to make sure that they have the right support in place.

Alex graduated from the University of Sussex in 2012 with BSc (Hons) Psychology and the University of Kent in 2015 with an MSc in Forensic Psychology. He holds a qualification in Low Intensity Cognitive Behavioural therapy (CBT) from the University of East Anglia (2020). He has held multiple roles across mental health services including working for the NHS as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) and as an Assistant Psychologist in the community and inpatient mental health services. He has previous experience working in Higher Education at another institution.
