Interview with Meg, Students' Union President of Activities and Wellbeing

  • What sports societies and clubs does the students union offer?

The SU offers a range of sports, including Football, Badminton, Netball, Basketball, Pole Fitness, Circuits (exercise class), Pilates and Dance.

  • Is there something available for all levels of fitness?

Everyone is welcome to the sports we hold, regardless of ability. We have both competitive and social sport, so whether you are looking to compete in a university league or just want to do it for fun and have a laugh, we have something for everyone.

  • How do students get involved with societies and social sports?

We currently have two types of memberships for sports, a social and a competitive, which run on a two-term timetable. All of which can be found on our website or feel free to drop by our office which is located underneath the library and near the SU social space and shop.

  • What is your personal favourite activity to take part in?

It is hard to choose one but my personal faves are Netball, Circuits and Pilates!

  • Are there any future plans to expand the variety of social sports available? Are there ways for students to suggest developments to the programme?

As a Union we host ‘Give it a Go’ sessions which are one off sessions of a sport or activity and it is a great opportunity for students to give things that they may not normally try a go and if they are popular, we can investigate the potential of more regular sessions of each activity. We also are open to student feedback and suggestions, so if there is a particular sport you are interested in then get in touch,

The University of Suffolk offers numerous, unique opportunities to get involved in sport and physical recreation at whatever level you choose. So whether your aim is for fun, fitness or achieving your true potential, we want to inspire you to engage in sport and physical activity while you study with us. Read the stories of the different ways our students get fit and active every day: We Are...
