Will Gardner is the CEO of Childnet International. Will joined Childnet in 2000, and was appointed CEO in 2009. He is an Executive Board member of the UK Council for Child Internet Safety also sits on Facebook’s Safety Advisory Board.
In his time at Childnet Will has led the development of Childnet’s range of award-winning internet safety materials aimed at children, parents and carers, and teachers and schools. He is responsible for organising Safer Internet Day in the UK, a fast-growing national awareness campaign that takes place every February – SID messages 2016 reached 40% of children.
Will has on a number of occasions visited the University of Suffolk and delivered key note speeches at conferences. He has been incredibly supportive of developing research in collaboration with the University and frequently talks about the research we are doing at national, government and international levels.
He gave whole-hearted support for Childnet to partner the much-needed and pioneering research on pro-anorexia websites we undertook which on completion bought considerable international and national recognition for the University. He continues to support our drive to become a leading institute for academic excellence in research in this area recommending us to tender for research and evaluation projects with Childnet and also other organisations, for example, the Marie Collins Foundation.
Will lives in London with his wife and their 5 children.
