Sally Jackson graduated from BA (Hons) Fine Art and the Fine Art Student of the Year winner, given for the best overall studentship demonstrated by a Fine Art student, and recognising art practice, academic pursuit and commitment, peer support and generosity, and contribution to the learning experience.
“During my degree I created a 9m wall mural for ITFC, this was an opportunity that I wouldn't have been able to do had I not been at University. I was also able to collaborate with the world-famous DJ YODA for my final degree project.”
“University has given me confidence in myself and my art practice which has provided me with the skills required to work as a practicing artist. University challenged me and now I have confidence to take on commission pieces that I never thought I would say yes to.”
After finishing University, I initially went straight into doing a PGCE but with the lockdowns closing schools and four children to home school, I found I couldn't commit to the requirements of the course. The situation gave me the push I needed to work as a practicing artist and I have completed 13 commission pieces since December 2020, the most recent being a 9m mural for a primary school in Wivenhoe, Essex.”
