Tony Eccles is Visiting Professor of Leadership for Competitiveness and Change at the University of Suffolk Business School.
Leaving school at 15, he became an apprentice engineering fitter, then a ship's engineer, went to University from night school; worked in sales for Great Universal Stores, then spent ten years in operations management with Unilever, before joining the Manchester Business School faculty.
Following a period as Professor of Business Policy at Glasgow University, he was Professor of Strategic Management at London Business School for 15 years. He has additionally held visiting professorial positions at Cranfield, Bath and Cass Management Schools. He has consulted with major international organisations as well as leading many senior executive and board workshops.
He has been a part-time television and radio presenter, journalist, and an award-winning copywriter. Author of “Under New Management”, “Succeeding with Change” and (co-authored) "Uncommon Sense, Common Nonsense: why some organisations consistently outperform others", Tony is currently completing a management book with the working title of “Fruitful Outcomes”, and researching another management writing project.
