Michael Barretti is an Instructor in Marketing at Suffolk University's Sawyer Business School in Boston, and the former Director of its Institute for Executive Education and Life-long Learning, and Academic Director of the Executive MBA Program. Professor Barretti holds a BBA from St. Johns University and an Executive MBA from Suffolk University. He has an extensive background in international business, marketing and branding, gained from more than 40 years of domestic and international experience.
Early in his career, he served as a distribution executive with the Polaroid Corporation, and a member of the management team of two Boston-area teaching hospitals. In 1980, he was named President and CEO of HSNE, Inc., a healthcare services corporation, and grew the organisation to $100 million in revenue, while at the same time giving it an international presence. In 1987, he was one of the founders and Chief Executive of Northfleet Management Group, a marketing management firm serving the global medical device industry and a pioneer in incubating start-up medical technology companies from abroad. From 1996 to 2004 he was a founder and President of Cool Laser Optics, Inc., a privately held laser and photonics manufacturer.
Professor Barretti received the Dean's Recognition Award for Teaching, the Graduate Student Association Award as Outstanding Faculty of the Year, as well as the Dean's Recognition Award for Service.
He is a retired United States Marine Corps Officer, with more than 20 years of active and reserve service, and also the holder of a US Patent on Methods and Apparatus for Temperature Control of Biologic Tissue with Simultaneous Irradiation.
