Matthew and Jasmine b+w

Matthew

Myself and my partner Jasmine met each other at the University of Suffolk. I studied BSc (Hons) Paramedic Science and Jasmine studied BSc (Hons) Children’s Nursing. We both met at university, and obviously had a mutual interest in each others career paths. We hit it off straight away and have been inseparable ever since! We both graduated in 2019 and even shared the same ceremony day together.

We are now both working in the National Health Service in our dream jobs. I am a Paramedic with EEAST and Jasmine is currently working as a Paediatric Nurse at Addenbrookes Hospital. Unfortunately we are both dealing with a large number of Covid-19 cases, typically on a daily basis. Although Jasmine is a children’s Nurse, she has also been allocated patients in the adult intensive care unit due to the high number of cases.

After getting our jobs we went on to buy our first home together and we got engaged in October 2020. We have booked a venue for July 2022. Fingers crossed the world is back to normal by then!

If it wasn’t for the University of Suffolk we wouldn’t be where we are now, and we are both so proud of everything we have achieved. I am so thankful that I took the plunge and applied for uni in 2016, it certainly has changed my life for the better in more ways than one!

Jasmine said: "Applying for uni really was a step outside of my comfort zone, I was anxious to move away from home and doubted my ability. However, it turned out to be the best thing I ever did; not only did it lead me to my dream job as a nurse in paediatric intensive care, but also to my partner Matt. We met at uni and since then we have bought a house, worked on the front line through a global pandemic and we even got engaged! We are so excited to be planning our wedding for summer 2022!"

We always look back at our university journey together and remember where it all started, so would definitely go as far as to say... the University of Suffolk made us!
