Marnie graduated from the BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science degree at the University of Suffolk in 2017, and very quickly secured a role as a physiologist at the world-famous Papworth Hospital in Cambridgeshire (the UK’s largest specialist cardiothoracic hospital).
Marnie says, “I was so happy when I secured such an exciting job at Papworth Hospital. Whilst they were sometimes nerve-racking at the time, the varied assessments on the degree really helped prepare me for the interview and job. We were assessed when conducting exercise tests in the Human Performance Laboratory, as well as more traditional coursework and exam tasks.
"The practical learning and assessment helped me gain confidence using very advanced laboratory equipment. I also greatly appreciated that the final year of the degree is made up of optional modules, so I was able to design my degree around my strongest interests and career ambitions. I found the clinical exercise science topics suited me best, but the variety of elite sport and clinical health topics made everything interesting.”
