I hold a Bachelor in Law (LLB) from the Department of Law in the National and Kapodestrian University of Athens, Greece and two Masters Diplomas (MSc) in ‘Tourism Planning, Management and Policy’ from the University of Aegean, Greece (supported by the 1st Postgraduate Scholarship) and in ‘International Marketing Management’ from Leeds University, United Kingdom, (supported by Maurice Keyworth Scholarship Award). I am also qualified in ‘Project Management for European Sustainable Tourism’, by the International Centre for Research in Events, Tourism and Hospitality (ICRETH) at Leeds Metropolitan University, Leeds, UK.
I am a Lawyer at the Greek Court of Appeal. Since 2006, when I qualified as a Lawyer and became External Associate at the Commercial Bank of Greece, I have worked as a Legal Consultant and Research Assistant at various national and European research projects in marketing and tourism. One of my most interesting experiences in 2011-12 coincided with my role as ‘Thematic Expert’ in the ‘Mare Nostrum’ EU Project related to the development of selected areas of the Mediterranean Basin. I have consulted for start-ups and mature companies aiming to thrive in the national and international marketplace including AOK Design, UK Ltd. and Caffè Nero. In 2010 I investigated the legal and social repercussions that the merger of ‘Olympic Air’ and ‘Aegean Airlines’ would generate for tourism and transport in the European area. I observed and participated in the preparation of the merger’s processes before the European Court. As an External Associate in DATTEA (Dedalos Aviation Transport and Tourism Education and Advisory) and ETEM – Laboratory for Tourism Research and Studies I provided advice on marketing, tourism and legal issues. Working as a Marketing Sales and Customer Service Assistant in ‘SRJ Marketing’ company, I developed direct marketing and sales campaigns for industrial clients.
My academic career began in 2010 as a Teaching Fellow at the School of Management of the Aegean University, Greece. I was appointed in 2011 as a Visiting Lecturer at the School of Engineering, Cranfield University, UK. My participation in research and consultancy projects was facilitated by my fluent speaking of four languages (Greek, English, French and Italian) and enhanced my ability to bridge differences and interact with people of various backgrounds. To enrich the way I acquire and deliver my theoretical and practical knowledge, I take part in international fora (Arab Air Transport Sector, Rabat, Moroccco) and guest lectures in various UK universities (Northampton, Leeds Metropolitan, University of West London, University of Sunderland). I have made several refereed publications in international scientific conferences and journals.
During 2014-15 I became a member of the ‘Institute of Export and International Trade’. I am currently a member of the ‘Tourism Society’ and the Athens Bar Association. My research interests include tourism marketing and management, consumer behaviour, sustainable destination development and event management.
