Maggie Wheeler

Brought up in St Albans, Maggie Wheeler studied English at UEA, remained in Norwich and went on to become a Social Worker in areas from child protection to managing services for older people.

In 1994 she went to work for an MEP, campaigning and briefing on eclectic topics.

After working as a trainer and consultant, plus roles like chairing Age UK Norwich and seats on NHS boards, Maggie spent a challenging decade as Chair of what became Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust which has responsibility for mental health services throughout the two counties.

Maggie championed and helped gain recognition for mental health services - highlighting and combating stigma, gaining recognition for dementia as a growing challenge.
