Julie qualified as a Registered Nurse (Adult Branch) in 1996 after studying at the University of Sussex. Julie has a background in medical nursing, and worked in areas such as Stroke Rehabilitation, wound care and Diabetes as a Nurse Specialist. She joined Suffolk college in 2004, and has developed her career in education as the university evolved within University Campus Suffolk in 2007 and the University of Suffolk in 2016.
Teaching and other Responsibilities
Julie Macleod is the Associate Dean for Business Engagement within the School of Health and Sports Sciences, and Head of Allied Health and Community. Julie is responsible for the development and management of these programmes, which includes the Higher Apprenticeship provision, working with course teams and regional stakeholders to develop robust and high quality programmes to support local work force requirements. Julie has more recently overseen the development of the Nursing Associate programme. She has many years’ experience within education and has teaching experience across a range of programmes with a particular interest in supporting social mobility and work based learning.
Research Interests and Publications
Julie has a Masters in Interprofessional Education and has worked with local stakeholders to evaluate care delivery and explore the educational needs of staff delivering health care. She has a keen interest in the development of learning in practice and has presented on developments in effective work based learning at a regional and national level.
