Ian Grutchfield

Ian’s role is to enable business and industry to connect with the University’s academic expertise and to grow partnerships with local organisations. Knowledge exchange activities may include collaborative projects, research and continuing professional development. Ian has responsibility for the School of Humanities and Social Science, and the Institute for Social Justice and Crime.
Ian has made a career out of commercialising creative endeavours: turning artistic and academic activity into branded products that meet business needs. He established an arts and entertainment venue in a Suffolk town, launched a grant scheme for East Anglian business and sold Doctor Who round the world for the BBC. In all these activities partnership has been at the core – linking intellectual property with business to deliver revenue.
