Edmund Kirkham

Ed’s career has been split between education and research. After completing a degree in Mathematics and a PGCE, Ed taught Mathematics and Computer Studies in secondary schools for eight years. Moving on to lecture at Reading College of Technology, where he ran a postgraduate course for teachers and trainers in IT. He then joined BT to work in management training and development.

While working in management training, Ed completed a MSc. Computing for Commerce and Industry with the Open University. After seven years in management training, he transferred to research where he worked on a number of different projects; from intrusion detection to network performance monitoring and broadband fault diagnosis. He has published several conference papers and with colleagues produced several patents. After 25 years at BT, Ed moved back to education joining UCS in 2016.
