Dr Diana ben-Aaron is a researcher and lecturer in applied linguistics, primarily language of news media. She began her career as an editor at InformationWEEK and then spent five years writing reports on IT topics at the Research Board Inc., a consultancy that is now part of Gartner Group. She reported on manufacturing and high technology for Bloomberg News from 2007 to 2012, covering Nokia and other wireless communications companies.
Diana was course leader of the MA Journalism at University Campus Suffolk, the precursor institution to the University of Suffolk, and a lecturer in linguistics and writing subjects on the BA (Hons) English course through 2016-17. As convener of the Professional Writing Practice module in English she worked with Suffolk marketing, media and arts firms to supervise students in work placements. She has also been a lecturer in linguistics at the University of Tampere and the University of Helsinki, where she did her PhD. Her research interests include language in professional communities, political language, digital literacies and research methods, and media practice. Diana is working on a monograph on news interviews in the digital age.
