David Edwards is Chairman Elect of Healthwatch Norfolk, an organisation seeking to improve Health and Social Care by engaging and involving the public generally.
Previous roles include Chairman of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Foundation Trust ( an NHS provider of Mental Health, Learning Disabilities and Community Child Health Services),Chairman of NHS Great Yarmouth and Waveney (the Commissioner of Health Services for part of Norfolk and Suffolk), Chairman of the Norfolk and Suffolk Dementia Alliance, Non-Executive Director and Governor of the James Paget Hospital and a Governor of The Norfolk and Suffolk Foundation Trust.
David was also a Member of Council of the University of East Anglia and Vice Chairman of The Governing body for UEA and Chaired the University Audit Committee and The Councils Effectiveness Committee.
As a Board member of University Campus Suffolk David led the review culminating in the Board decision to create the University of Suffolk after due process.
David's interest and passion for HealthCare, Education and Research comes from over 50 years involvement and leadership, 25 years of that time spent as a Chief Executive Officer specialising in running some of the United Kingdom’s major University Teaching Hospitals in Birmingham, Nottingham and Cardiff.
David was awarded the O.B.E. for Services to Healthcare in 2005 and received a Doctorate (Doctor of Civil Law) from UEA in July 2014.
