The University of Suffolk’s Faces of Suffolk has been shortlisted for ‘Best Social Media Campaign’.

The Edurank Awards recognise and celebrate the success of social media marketing in the education sector.

Faces of Suffolk was launched in October 2017. It is a community-led storytelling social media campaign, aimed at creating a positive buzz about the University and highlights the people who make the university the bold, fearless and inspiring community that it is today.

Katie Martin, Web and Digital Content Officer, said, “Students, staff and alumni share their defining moments with us in this unique storytelling campaign, with stories ranging from fearless and brave to inspirational and entertaining.”

“Faces of Suffolk is an ‘anti-marketing’ campaign; the aim has always been to empower our students and to discuss topics that are part of university life. Students have spoken about both the highlights and the difficulties they’ve faced during their time at university – from dyslexia, pregnancy and losing loved ones, to their ambitions, starting a business and mental health.”

Coupled with strong, bold imagery taken by photographer James Fletcher, the result reflects the different stories and personalities of the University as a whole.

Katie added, “Our Faces of Suffolk campaign gained more traction than we ever could have expected. Students have been inspired to tell their stories from reading about others and it has created a ripple effect within and extending our community.  In the four months Faces of Suffolk has been running, it has received over 100,000 organic impressions and more than 16,000 organic engagements.”

“The best part has been seeing the number of students, staff and graduates stepping forward to say they can relate to a story. To see them posting comments of encouragement, rallying around each other and the realisation that they are not alone in the obstacles they face. The comradery has been a defining point of the campaign, which we will continue to run this year.”

The University of Suffolk is up against nine other institutions in the ‘Best Social Media Campaign’ category and the winners will be announced at the end of February.
