University of Suffolk responds to funding boost for nursing students

18 Dec 2019 1:15PM

The University of Suffolk’s Dean of the School for Health and Sport Sciences has today welcomed the government announcement that nursing students will receive a payment of at least £5,000 a year from September 2020.

Paul Driscoll-Evans, Dean of School for Health and Sports Sciences at the University of Suffolk, said “We welcome the announcement today from the Government about increased financial support for those studying nursing. Our suite of nursing degrees at the University of Suffolk are already very popular and we are sure this additional funding will encourage those wanting to study nursing, to do so.

“We work with a number of NHS partners, East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust, James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust amongst others, and this will help us to assist them in meeting their workforce needs.”
