The University has appointed its first Pro Vice-Chancellor for Business Engagement and Entrepreneurship.
Professor Gurpreet Jagpal will join the University in April from UWE Bristol where he has led on enterprise and entrepreneurship and supported business engagement.
Prior to that he was at London South Bank University where under his leadership on enterprise, entrepreneurship and business engagement they became Entrepreneurial University of the Year in 2016.
Professor Jagpal said, “I am delighted to be joining the University of Suffolk at such an exciting time. The University’s focus on community impact, business engagement and transforming the educational lives of the communities we serve really resonates with my own beliefs on the role of universities as catalysts for change. I am committed to bridging the gap between the worlds of education and business and look forward to working with the University of Suffolk staff, students and alumni, along with the local community and businesses, to achieve this.”
Vice-Chancellor Professor Helen Langton said of the appointment, “This is a critical appointment for the University as we seek to advance our partnership with business and industry. Professor Jagpal has a career that has concentrated on business and business engagement and the link between business and industry and higher education. He is extremely well placed to help us move forward with our agenda in this area and we look forward to welcoming him this spring.”
