Social enterprise organisations are being invited to partner with the University of Suffolk and its Students’ Union to provide new food and drink facilities on campus.
The invitation is open to new or existing social enterprises and Community Interest Companies, who will provide a dedicated space for the community of students, staff and visitors – with potential to open the offer to the wider local community.
Interested parties must submit an expression of interest by 31st May 2023 which should include the financial sustainability of their business model; how their proposal will support the broader interests of the University community, with a particular focus on the student experience; and how students might be able to be involved, such as hosting events or job opportunities.
University of Suffolk Chief Operating Officer Tim Greenacre commented:
“As the university continues to grow, we are looking for a partner who will not only create a fantastic space for students to meet and socialise which supports their student experience, but also aligns with ours and the Students’ Union’s mission and values.”
The new catering offer will be located on the ground floor of the James Hehir Building on the waterfront and will meet the University’s ambition of improving the facilities and experience for students on campus.
Jumara Stone of the University of Suffolk Students’ Union said:
“We are very excited by the opportunity to work closely with a local community interest company to help shape the offer for our students that will not only include a new place to socialise but could also host many of our SU and student-led events.”
The space within the James Hehir Building comprises a bar area and kitchen space and will include furniture, light fixtures, kitchen equipment including full cooking facilities, sound systems and LED Screens.
