Jo Brand has sent her best wishes to final year health students at the University of Suffolk as many are preparing to join the NHS this week to support the Coronavirus relief effort.
The comedian is a former nurse and received an honorary award from the University in 2009.
Nursing students, Radiography students and those studying Operating Department Practice will be registering early in order to be able to support the NHS.
Jo said in her video message “Well done to all the key workers helping with the coronavirus effort and to the health students who are working alongside the NHS. Good on the lot of you, good luck and stay safe.”
Staff at the University of Suffolk are also preparing to return to clinical practice. Many of the academics working in the School of Health and Sports Sciences remain registered health care professionals.
Jo’s message comes on World Health Day which is being marked by Universities UK with the launch of the #WeAreTogether campaign which is highlighting the role universities are playing in the national effort against Covid-19. It will also create a digital platform for promoting messages of solidarity, support and gratitude for key workers.
