The School of Engineering, Arts, Science and Technology prides itself on offering excellent learning and teaching in an environment that supports world-class application focused research in the subject areas relevant to our curricula. The School has enjoyed sustained investment in teaching spaces and specialist facilities. It is housed in the modern James Hehir building (opened in 2010 with £25m investment) and the upgraded West Building (opened in Sept 2016 with £5m investment). A new technology centre (The DigiTech Centre) is being built at Adastral Park in Suffolk, (with £9.6m investment).
The School has expanded its computing degree teaching portfolio rapidly in the past several years creating new offerings such as BSc (Hons) Digital & Technology Solutions (degree apprenticeship route), BSc (Hons) Cyber Security, BSc (Hons) Mobile and Web Development, BSc (Hons) Computing and Business Management, BSc (Hons) Computer Games Programming and MSc Computer Games Development. The School has recently won funding from the Office for Students to create a new MSc Data Science and Artificial Intelligence conversion degree. Additional masters-level and undergraduate degrees will be added in the future. Consequently, the School is seeking to appoint two permanent Lecturer/Senior Lecturers in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science to undertake teaching and research in a variety of computing areas. These are new posts. The successful applicants could expect to teach across multiple degrees, initially focusing on the new MSc Data Science and Artificial Intelligence degree, and later supporting undergraduate teaching in data science and artificial intelligence. The successful candidates should expect to be a supervisor for final-year data science and AI projects. The appointee is expected to make a significant contribution to the learning, teaching and research culture in the School of Engineering Arts Science and Technology.
Applications are sought from PhD qualified and/or industrially experienced candidates with excellent teaching skills, a track record in computing research (in academia or industry) and the ability to attract research grants and other funding to assist in the further development of the subject area.
