Required 0.1 FTE - Fixed term until August 2022
We are looking for an enthusiastic and innovative senior academic to join our growing Life Science team and contribute to the delivery of our degree programmes and in particular to lead our Mathematics for Life Sciences module and contribute occasionally to other modules where mathematics and statistics would be beneficial. This may include advising dissertation students.
Applicants should have a strong track record of experience in teaching and learning in higher education including experience of courses, modules and assessment design and associated quality assurance processes including assessment boards.
We are particularly interested in receiving applications from candidates with experience in designing and developing teaching, learning and assessment across a range of levels at access/foundation through to undergraduate programmes. We are also interested in candidates who have industrial experience, so as to bring a “real world” aspect to our programmes.
Teaching of mathematics is a particularly difficult role and requires patience, persistence and determination and innovative teaching tools. As such, the post holder will be expected to plan learning and adapt sessions to suit best practice in mathematical pedagogy.
The successful candidate will have a relevant higher degree in mathematics, a PGCE in post compulsory education (or equivalent HE teaching qualification), and significant experience teaching and learning.
