Part time (0.2fte), 2-year fixed term contract
The BA (Hons) Photography course at the University of Suffolk is seeking a Lecturer to join its existing course team. The role will involve leading the planning, delivery and assessment of Photographic Techniques modules, specifically at Level 4 and 5, with some input on professional practice programmes.
The successful candidate will have had previous experience of working in the photographic industry in some capacity, be proficient across Adobe Photoshop, CaptureOne and moving image. Previous experience of teaching at either further or higher education is essential, and they should hold a first degree in a related discipline with an MA being desirable. The role will typically be for 2 days a week whilst modules are timetabled.
The Photography course at the University of Suffolk encourages a critical interrogation of contemporary photography whilst equipping them with transferrable skill that enable our graduating students go on to work in a diverse range of professional sectors ranging from professional photographers, photographer assistants, lecturers, curators, picture researchers, in addition undertaking postgraduate study.
Photography at Suffolk is delivered within the School of Engineering, Arts, Science and Technology (EAST). The School of EAST offers a range of courses across four main subject areas: Arts, Business, Science and Technology. Each subject area gives the school a defining characteristic and links into the University’s areas of distinctiveness – Digital Confidence, Creativity and Creative Thinking, Career Development and Sustainability Awareness.
The School has enjoyed sustained investment into state-of the-art laboratories, studios, specialist equipment and resources and offers excellent learning and teaching in a dynamic and supportive, multidisciplinary environment of learning, research and innovation.
