Lecturer in Biomedical Science, Microbiology (Ref:212a)

Salary range: 
£35,845 to £41,526 per annum, pro rata

12 month FTC, part time (0.5FTE)

We are looking for an enthusiastic and innovative biomedical scientist with a specialism in Medical Microbiology to join our growing Life Science team and contribute to the delivery of our BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science degree programme for a period of 12 months for maternity cover.

The successful candidate should have a record of work in the Biomedical Science industry and be a member of the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS). They will also be Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered for a minimum of 5 years, and ideally have experience of teaching in Higher Education or a similar environment.  A relevant postgraduate teaching qualification is desirable. 

The post holder will be expected to carry out undergraduate teaching, including planning, organisation and delivery of programmes of study; this will include designing and marking assessments.  They will also have the opportunity to engage in public outreach and recruitment activities.

The successful candidate will undertake teaching on Biomedical Science-specific modules including Medical Microbiology as well as professional practice and more general biomedical science areas such as pathology.

This position will particularly suit candidates with an industrial career who want to pursue an academic career or someone looking to take a full or partial sabbatical from industry or healthcare arena.
