Financial Accountant

Salary range: 
£29,799 - £33,518 per annum

The University of Suffolk is seeking an experienced and self-motivated fully professionally qualified accountant to provide management support in all aspects of financial accounting. This is a full-time fixed term contract position for one year to cover maternity leave absence. The post holder will be located at the Ipswich Campus and will be responsible for the day to day line management of 3 staff in the Finance Team.

The role will report to the Head of Financial Operations and work areas include management of the University's accounts receivable function including credit control, student bursary administration, administration of the finance system, and assistance with the preparation of annual financial statements and other statutory and regulatory returns. The role includes a student facing element and so customer service level provided by the team is of high importance.

Applicants will need to possess knowledge of a financial accounting function and be able to demonstrate excellent IT skills. Applicants must also be able to demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills, and have strong organisational skills with a proven track record of meeting deadlines. A good understanding of the higher education environment would be an advantage.
